Geres and its partners take up the challenge of energy access in Senegal
Within the framework of the PAER Energy Access Programme in Saint Louis region, northern Senegal, the NGO Partenariat Saint Louis, the Regional Development Agency of Saint Louis and Geres have joined forces to take up the challenges of energy access and clean energy for people and businesses in the region.
The programme begins by carrying out regional energy diagnostics.
The aim of regional energy diagnostics is to:
- Evaluate the availability of energy resources and level of access to those resources
- Describe the available energy supply in the territory
- Quantify and describe demand, uses of energy and costs
- Establish a forward-looking view of needs in the territory and possible development scenarios
The results will serve as the basis for a regional energy atlas and the establishment by regional stakeholders of a regional strategy to facilitate energy access and promote clean energy, in line with national policies. The work is carried out by the Regional Development Agency of Saint Louis, with technical support from Geres and Partenariat.
ThePAER is a three-year programme funded by the French Development Agency.
