Summary and Geres role
The feasibility study backed up the proposal submitted by PIN, in consortium with Geres, HSSi (Hybrid Social Solutions, Inc.) and Entrepreneurs du Monde, in response to the EU call for Access to Sustainable Energy in the Philippines (ASEP) projects.
The project’s ambition was to enable 6500 households, 220 community businesses and 100 social services in the North of the island of Samar (Visayas) to adopt affordable, reliable renewable energy solutions based on sustainable finance and maintenance arrangements.
In this connection, Geres:
- conducted the preparatory phase of the feasibility study: overall orientation, tools and recommendations for target areas;
- co-ordinated the carrying out of infield surveys (with 780 households, 133 small businesses and key energy access stakeholders) in collaboration with a local team made up of consortium members;
- developed the economic and financial analysis of the findings;
- consolidated the information collected in the study report, organized as follows: contextual information, description of the target area, analysis of energy provision, demand forecasts, analysis of energy access options, framework of proposed solutions, cost estimate, project implementation, economic and financial analysis, socio-environmental analysis and conclusion.
